Just taking a general consensus concerning selling my art/artistic talent.

First off, Who here would actually be willing to offer me commission work? This may include drawing an Original Character, Fan Art Character, or just about anything in either line art, my style of grey scale, or color pencil and ink, at least. Possibly some digital art.

In General, Do you prefer offering a commission when purchasing art or actually buying an already premade/existing piece?

How much DO you like my Snack Monsters? Would you be willing to purchase an original painting of Snack Monster(s) chowing down?

Would you be interested in other little crafts like bookmarks, badges, plushies, charms, magnets. These products may be based off of my own artwork, fan art or even just randomness...

How much would you be willing to pay for my work? For Line Art? For Color? For Paintings? I wouldn't be expecting too much, just wondering what everyone's artistic budget is.

Anything else regarding my art work?! Anything at all!?
Thanks so much for taking the time to read through this journal and, hopefully, answering my questions. More updates soon!!

The Monkey Commands you, Give me presents!!!!........... Obey the monkey!!!!
1. Im in a bit of a cash slump due to college, so I cant buy commissions at all. THOUGH, I do think you are capable enough to begin offering them. For sure.
2. Honestly, I'm not usually one to buy prints. I prefer seeing personal pieces made (commissions) of my liking, etc. Though, alot of people actually do like buying Prints, last I checked.
3. Theyre very cute, and I think would make pretty hardcore paintings. If anything, I'd also like to see them made into beanies or keychains. Or shirts. Moreso the former, because I adore beanies and keychains. xD
4. I think I expressed most of this in #3.
5. Im not one to really judge the price range for commissions. I'd say set a base range (Maybe like 5-8 for a sketch, 15-20 for lines and 25-40 for a traditional or colored piece? I really dont know) and then depending on complexity of the commissioners request, adjust it? Just alot of communication. o:
6. Still love your work. Have since High School. ;3 Keep in touch, you move around too much. Haven't seen you since I happened upon you at Wal-Mart forever ago, lol.
Good luck! :3

.1 While I like a lot of your art. I wouldnt commission anything. I never commission art (Other then on Gaia, and even then its very rare.) The reasons being 1. I never have any money. 2. If I want something drawn, Ill always do it myself, because, well, I can. I dont find any reason for one artist who works in images to ask another artist to draw something for them when they are capable of doing so themselves. I understand why its done, I just dont see any reason for it.
.2 In General, I would feel better buying a print over a commission any day.
.3 I dont like the Snack Monsters.
.4 Interested, yes. But as far as buying goes, it would depend on the art, and how good of a bookmark.
.5 Never been good with pricing All I can say is make sure you add in the outgoing costs. The outgoing cost would be the paper, pens, pencils, paints, whatever you used. Add the cost of what you used into what you feel your time is worth. Like so.
Outgoing cost + Time spent + Level of difficulty = End price
6. Ending notes. I hope you dont take the fact that I wont commission as something personal, or some kind of attack. Its just my stand on commissions right now.
I believe that there is a chance for you to sell very well. You will have to put in a lot of hard work. Really get your name out there, by ads, word of mouth, offer price quotes to any one, and every one. Be ready to draw what ever might come your way, take work that wont be fun, but pays well.
I feel this link might be of help, and if nothing else, it is a good read for any artist.

I do hope that in the future we might be able to do a collaboration of sorts again, like with long socks, or even something a little more planned. Been meaning to drop you a note saying so, but thought I would throw it in here.
Ps. Sorry if anything is misspelled, or doesnt make sense. Im in need of some sleep.

No, no, this is what I wanted. Honest opinions whether good or bad or even indifferent. I wouldn't have posted this if I was expecting everyone to be like "You're awesome let me throw money at you!!" because then I would've just started selling myself regardless of others opinions.
I completely understand what you mean about the never asking for commissions. I'm an artist I can do it myself. I much rather buy a print or even an original piece of art by an artist I enjoy because it'll most likely going to be displayed in my home in some way.
Thanks so much for the link. I'll be reading through it after work.
Yeah! Just note me if you have an idea for a collaboration, definitely. Just warning though, I probably cant work on anything until after the beginning of March. [As you said, life gets in the way.]
Thanks again for all your input!

2. I think Id rather buy a print rather than commission. I have a strong belief about the originals (of anything) staying with the creator unless its a gift, and even then I dont really agree with it.
3. I dont have much of an opinion on the Snack Monsters though I think it would be pretty cool if they became a plushie or beanbag kind of idea.
4. Not particurally. I have enough junk at home. That being said, your art would make cute plushies and such. I think they would interest others.
5. Thats something I think is unfair to price. You spent time and effort and poured your soul into your creations. Thats something I think that you would have to decide how much you would pay for it if you were to buy it.
6. Not really. Just keep up the great work.
